Spencer arrived in Key West in time for Independence Day celebrations. He also helped his grandfather prepare the boat for a long journey.
The first leg of they journey, from Key West to Isla Mujeres, was running against the Gulf Stream without enough wind to sail.

It might seem funny to take a ferry when you have a sailboat, but the trip from Cancun to Isla Mujeres was quick and comfortable.

We had official business with the port, and their offices were in Cancun. We also took the opportunity to grab some lunch and shop at the supermarket.
